Product Description Summary And Evaluation Draft 3

According to Global Tracking Technology’s website(2018), SC2 provides both asset tracking and data communication solution. SC2 is highly configurable to accurately track and oversee land, marine and tactical assets operating in the most isolated, dangerous or challenging of environments. SC2 is hardwired to the asset and integrates advanced mobile technology to yield accurate positional and management information to within two metres worldwide. It provides diversified clients with the most economical satellite solution available for both fixed and mobile applications. Apart from tracking and monitoring any assets instantaneously, it also provides various security features. Clients chose SC2 as it is easy to install on their applications, require low maintenance and long-life solutions. SC2 provides web-based solution for clients to easily access an overview of their assets via internet connection globally. SC2 is superior in both of its asset tracking and security even though there are other similar products such as Trackingapack and Tetis.

SC2 is selected over the common container tracking devices such as Tetis and Trackingapack due to the extra degree of tracking accuracy that SC2 provide. From Global Tracking Technology’s website, SC2 offers various sorts of tracking application such as “container tracking and integration with container tracking software”, “ship and boat tracking”, “buoy tracking”, “barge tracking”, “machinery tracking”. The selling point of the SC2 as opposed to both Trackingapack and Tetis, as stated in Global Tracking Technology’s website, SC2 utilises satellite tracking. Satellite communication has a farther range and thus has a higher location accuracy as compared to that of cellular LBS system and proximity RFID tag. As stated in Trackingapack’s website, the product utilises “exclusive cellular mast positioning system”. From Tetis’s website, its product applies “cellular engine(3G)” for tracking purposes. This key feature has made SC2 exceptional  when compared to  Trackingapack and Tetis.

The second feature that captures the eyes of consumers would the extra asset security applications and features provided by SC2 for assets transportation on land and by sea. From Global Tracking Technology’s website, its product’s security features include “Asset security”, “Ship and boat security”, “Machinery security”. On top of that, from Tracking Global Technology’s website, SC2 is installed with “highly configurable event alarm and internal motion sensors” can aid to handle security concerns when an asset is in jeopardy and “external sensors” helps to oversee the demand of real-time security, alarm reporting and asset conditions.  As opposed to Trackingapack, from the Trackingapack’s website, it only states that it will trigger the sirens if there is slight intrusion. Unlike Trackingapack’s features, according to Tetis’s website, it states that its products can “provide fact reports in any event of cargo’s loss and theft”. Both features, as mentioned above, are present in the SC2.

Overall, SC2 can track containers more accurately than most products due to the usage of satellite communications and multiple types of tracking such as buoy, barge and machinery tracking. It is also equipped with security applications such as “asset tracking”, “ship and boat security” and “machinery security” and security features such as built in internal motion sensor and external sensors and highly configurable event alarm. SC2 would thus stand out more than most products and be a more sensible choice when it comes to choosing a hardware for asset tracking and security.

About Myself

Dear Professor Brad Blackstone

I would like to make use of this opportunity to introduce myself due to the limitations of doing so in class. I am Sean Sin Kiat Wei, you can call me Sean and I am a year 1 telematics student in your technical communications group class. I  graduated from Singapore Polytechnic in 2014 with a diploma in bioengineering and decided to take up telematics as it is the most relevant course out of the other courses I was offered. Singapore is also progressing into a smart nation with various on-going interesting intelligent transports projects such as driverless cars and other smart car projects. This is also part of the reason for choosing telematics as my course of study in Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT).

Aside from academics, I am also an enthusiastic basketball player and I have been playing organised basketball since I was thirteen. I play the shooting guard position. And as the position suggest, my job is to score every time I receive the ball when possible. I would also have to communicate well with my team mates so that we can execute a play flawlessly. Apart from sports, I have been building, customizing and racing in miniature four-wheel-drive (4WD) cars as my favorite pastime. I have already customized about five cars till date and I usually head down to the race track in the Tamiya Store near Tai Seng area to test out my customization. This thought came one day while I was building and customizing a car, what if I were able to build a car by myself, driving to where we command the car to go and get to the destination on time and with zero accident rate. That thought was the key reason why I have decided to seize the opportunity to enroll and study in the field of intelligent transport systems.

The most crucial flaw in communication that I have is  the ability to articulate myself to the public. I usually get very anxious speaking to large groups and it got so bad that I would actually get into a mental block and would just mumble to myself during the presentation. I believe that I will conquer my phobia and overcome this pivotal communication obstacle after this twenty-hour module. Separately, my strength for communication is the capability to speak in smaller circles. I must thank both national service and basketball for me being sociable.

One of my goals for this module is definitely to be more confident when speaking in a presentation. My second goal would to upgrade my speaking skills. I believe that improving in communications is the same as improving in basketball and customizing a miniature 4WD car, it takes criticism from the audience and years of practice.

Thank you for your time.

Yours Sincerely,

Sean
